Long Term Monitoring
I am part of two groups that carry out long term monitoring of coastal ecosystems in California and Baja California. I am a member and co-founder of MexCal, a group of researchers in Baja California, Mexico based at UABC, and an adjunct scientist at TRNERR in California, USA.
I also work on hypothesis-driven research from the ecology and impacts of invasive species, climate change, biogeography, ecological parasitology, and population and community ecology. Throughout my career I have worked with great scientists from many different institutions as you can see from my list of publications.
Management of Ecosystems
Recently, I have worked on several projects looking at management of coastal resources to increase social-ecological resilience through participative science, conservation aquaculture, scenario planning and adaptation strategies.
